How you get here
This is not a boss you walk up to. Fight The Hunt at the Great Waterfall, take his health bar to zero, and he transforms instead of dying.
Everything before the transformation — the wagon ambush, the waterfall opener, the double side jump, the tornado — lives on The Hunt’s page. This page starts where that one ends.
How he changes
Longer strings, faster swings, same reach. The transformation is not a new moveset so much as the same moveset without the pauses — the gaps you punished in the first phase get shorter, and the strings get longer.
Two practical consequences:
- Your old punish windows are gone. Do not carry a timing habit over from the previous phase.
- His reach is still half the arena. Distance remains the wrong answer. Close in, stay in.
How to fight him
Block the opener, parry the follow-ups
Take his opening attack on guard, then look for the parries in the slashes that follow. That is the Sha-Chi drain, and draining Sha-Chi is how this form becomes vulnerable — not chip damage.
Trying to out-damage him here is a losing trade. He swings faster than you do.
When he jumps: block, then parry late
The airborne string is the one that ends fights. He throws four ranged attacks first, then five chain slashes as he leaps, and finishes with a parryable attack.
Hold block through the slashes and commit to the parry just before the spin ends — the animation is quick and reacting to the landing is too late.
Stay inside the sickles
His range is the reason people lose this phase. Every time you create distance you give him a free attack and give yourself nothing. Stay close, eat the block cost, and take the parry windows when they come.
Gear
| Slot | Pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Main weapon | Scarlet Wraithblade | Sha-Chi drain is how this form opens up |
| Main weapon | Jagged Steel | Bleed still applies; Rampage on staggers |
| Phantom Edge | Dread Axe | Charged hits on the longer stagger windows |
| Medicine | Focus Pill | The phase is longer than the one before it |
| Movement | Lateral dodges, never straight back | Sickle Throw and Fissure cover the retreat line |
Rewards
Hunter’s Chain Sickle — a Phantom Edge that pulls targets toward you, which is the ranged answer to bosses that refuse to close distance. This is the only drop in the whole fight.
Notes
- Transformation, not a second boss. Same arena, same character, harder form.
- Checkpoint at the transformation. Dying here does not cost you the first phase.
- The pauses are shorter. Old punish timings do not carry over.
- Block the jump, parry late. The spin ends fast.
- Never retreat in a straight line. That is where his ranged attacks live.
- The drop only comes from this form.
