Hua boss guide: the hidden bride under the Sha-Chi Tower
Hua is a Puppet, so bleed does nothing to her — drop Jagged Steel. Fight her reactively, keep clear of the red flowers, and dodge the grab she punishes combos with.

Getting there
From the Valley Sha-Chi Tower 1st Floor bell, head north and around the tower until you find a hole in the ground, then slide down. Inside the tower works too: take the stairs down, then climb the left-hand staircase to the top.
She is optional, and she is also the best early weapon in the game. Worth the detour.
The rule that changes your loadout
Hua is a Puppet. Bleed builds do not work on her — no blood, no Bleed Gauge, no Blood Loss. If you have been running Jagged Steel since Peng Meng, this is the fight where it stops paying.
How to fight her
Play reactive, not aggressive
She punishes combos. Her grab has a very short animation and lands most often on players mid-swing — the exact habit the last four bosses taught you. Break it here.
The loop: drain her Sha-Chi defensively first, take the stagger, then go back to watching your feet. Do not stay on the offensive after she recovers.
Fast weapons in the slow windows
Her attacks are medium-speed with long animations. Sanguine Twin (or the starting pair) fits hits into gaps like her overhead slash, which a greatsword cannot reach in time.
If you are running the Dread Axe, two uses stand out: a charged hit knocks her down for a free combo, and a charge timed as her stagger bar is about to fill interrupts the recovery. Both are timing-dependent; the fast-weapon plan is more forgiving.
The red flowers
She seeds red flowers on the ground during attacks and while refilling her Sha-Chi. They explode after a delay. Two things make them dangerous:
- The arena already has red flowers in it. Hers are a brighter red — learn the difference or you will walk into one mid-fight.
- She is red herself, so the whole screen fights your red glint read.
Clear the flowers before you commit to damage. Eating an explosion mid-combo is how this fight goes from manageable to over.
The spinning backstep
When she spins backward, flowers converge on the spot she left. Standing near the centre hurts, and the cluster explodes once they meet.
Unlock your camera and move out immediately. She blinks to you while you reposition, so expect pressure during the retreat — move first, look second.
The white flowers
She throws large white flowers that home in slowly, then blinks in front of you once they close. The flowers are a distraction, not the threat — dodge away rather than blocking them.
What follows is either a two-hit swing or her grab Killer Move, and you cannot tell which in time to block. Commit to the dodge.
Gear
| Slot | Pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Main weapon | Sanguine Twin / starting blades | Fast hits in her long animations |
| Main weapon | Not Jagged Steel | Bleed is dead weight on a Puppet |
| Phantom Edge | Dread Axe | Knockdown and stagger interrupt, if timed |
| Medicine | Focus Pill | Second healing source; found behind the barricade near the village |
| Prep | Weapons to level 5 | Unlocks the bonus skill before the fight |
The Focus Pill is behind a barricaded cliff area near the village — the Dread Axe breaks the barricade, so pick it up on the way in.
Rewards
Scarlet Wraithblade — the Sha-Chi-draining blade that carries the next stretch of the game, including both encounters with The Hunt and the shield phase against Jing Ye.
Notes
- Puppet = no bleed. This is the one fight where the meta weapon is wrong.
- She grabs mid-combo. Stop committing to long strings.
- Her flowers are brighter red than the ambient ones.
- White flowers are bait. Dodge the follow-up, not the petals.
- Reposition before you look. She blinks to you during the retreat.
