Getting there
From the Green Snake House (青蛇屋) in Pengzhen:
- Stand at the front door and head left, then follow the stone bridge to the street where firecrackers are going off.
- Hug the right-hand wall the whole way; at the fork, keep hugging the right wall.
- Cross the stone bridge at the end — you pass two child puppets.
- Keep going until you can activate the Ancestral Hall Square bell (祠堂广场).
- Walk down into the open area below the bell. The fight starts there.
Phase 1: the paralysis meter is the whole fight
Chang Hong opens with a fast spear and closes distance aggressively — he is one of the two or three hardest fights in Pengzhen. The dangerous part is not the spear. It is the lightning summon:
He raises the spear skyward and calls down lightning. While that is active, every hit he lands builds a paralysis meter, and filling it takes control away from you for a few seconds. Standing in the effect and trading hits is how this fight ends badly.
The source’s answer is blunt: when he raises the spear, run to the far side of the arena and wait it out. Do not try to dodge-punish through the lightning window — the meter keeps building even on chip damage.
Finding your openings
Both openings are glint-based:
- Rotating spear charge — he spins the spearhead and thrusts at you; the final hit is always red. That is your dodge window, and it is the most readable attack in his kit.
- Blue glints — parry them. Each successful parry drains his Sha-Chi, which is the only way to get him guard-broken.
Once he is guard-broken, the source’s damage window is the Greedy Wolf (贪狼) Phantom Edge: its spin attack hits hard and heals you at the same time, which is why the whole recommendation is built around the Dread Blade lifesteal pair rather than burst damage.
Phase 2: he remounts
At the phase change Chang Hong becomes cavalry, and his moveset flips to mid-to-long-range lance charges and ranged lightning strikes.
Two specific things the source flags:
The horse’s rear. When he turns the horse’s back toward you, jump away immediately — it is the wind-up for a disorienting attack in the same family as Jing Ye’s, and standing still means eating it blind.
The charge is blockable. Unlike most of his kit, the cavalry thrust can simply be held-blocked (“点按格挡”), and the source calls it high-tolerance. This is the one phase-2 attack you do not need to dodge.
Consumables
The Green Snake Potion (青蛇药剂) clears abnormal status on use — drink it when the paralysis meter is nearly full rather than after it triggers. The lifesteal build makes potions cheap to spend, so there is no reason to hoard them here.
